Conclusion
Well that was a firehose of information! I hope you learned some action nuggets that you can apply to your running and daily life.
As I explained in this book, to maintain your running career as you age requires attention to all your daily habits, not just running. I can’t overemphasize the importance of what you eat. You don’t have to be on a strict diet. If you just abstain from industrial seed oils and processed foods, you’ll be ahead of the game. Spend more time on your runs at a leisurely pace, and when there is an opportunity to go hard, go for it! Take time to recover from stressful events. Have a bedtime routine to shut down properly and get a good night’s sleep. And remember, you body needs maintenance so incorporate mobility and strength work to keep your foundation strong and experience more freedom, vitality and independence as you age.
